How the Insurance Claim Process Works
Not sure how the insurance repair process works? Here’s exactly what to expect from the moment of your accident to picking up your repaired vehicle.
1. Report to Your Insurer
After the accident, call your insurance company to report the claim. They will assign you a claim number. You do not need a repair estimate first — though we can provide one if it helps.
2. Bring Us Your Claim Number
Contact J&J with your claim number and we take over from there. We will schedule your vehicle inspection and open a direct line of communication with your insurer.
3. We Handle the Adjuster
Our team prepares a full repair estimate, submits it to your insurance adjuster, and negotiates on your behalf for proper OEM parts and fair repair coverage.
4. Pick Up Your Repaired Vehicle
Once repairs are approved and complete, you pay only your deductible. Insurance handles the rest directly with us. Your vehicle is returned fully repaired and inspected.
You Choose Your Repair Shop — Not Your Insurance Company
Many drivers don’t realize that in California, you have the legal right to choose any licensed auto body shop for your insurance repair—regardless of which shop your insurer recommends or steers you toward. Your insurance company cannot require you to use a specific shop. If you’ve been in an accident and prefer to have J&J handle your repair, simply provide us with your claim number and we will take it from there.
Your Right to Choose
California law gives you the right to select any licensed body shop. You are not required to use an insurer’s “preferred” or “direct repair” network shop.
OEM Parts Advocacy
Insurers sometimes approve cheaper aftermarket parts to save money. We communicate directly with adjusters to push for manufacturer-approved OEM parts whenever possible.
Free Pre-Claim Estimate
Not sure if the damage is worth filing a claim? We offer free estimates so you can make an informed decision before contacting your insurance company.
